Hiking through the wild nature in the heart of the Carpathians, wearing traditional Romanian costumes from Maramureș or immortalizing a sunrise surrounded by the reeds of the Delta, are among the most beloved tourist activities in Romania. The stories and legends of these places are fascinating; as well as the contrast between the quiet life in the authentic Romanian villages and the vibration of the big cities of the country. In this context, the idea of carrying out an activity with the theme Development of sustainable tourism appeared, at the Economic College "Dionisie Pop Marțian" Alba Iulia.
This activity was created in order to mark the World Tourism Day, on September 28, 2019, through school and extracurricular activities by teachers and students within the Erasmus + project "MENS SANA IN CORPORE SANO EUREKORPUS". The competencies were: awareness of the relationship between tourism and the environment in order to protect and conserve the environment and ecological balance, understanding the effects of tourism activities on nature, culture and environment, integrating sustainable development as a factor for tourism development, recognition and promotion of development sustainable that were a success (White Carolina Fortress).
The activity within this project took place in two stages. The first stage consisted of organizing a meeting of students with a local entrepreneur who presented ways to promote sustainable tourism. The second stage as a result in a workshop in which students divided into groups made tourist maps of the city of Alba Iulia with tourist attractions and places to stop. At the end of the activity, the students presented the works, the teachers and special guests gave grades. The best works were awarded.
The result of this activity consists in the realization of the didactic materials by the students, the publicity made to the Alba Carolina Citadel. Students have become more aware of the importance of preserving the tourist heritage for future generations.
