Students have spent a half day at a Forest School which delivers survival skill courses as well as completing team building with the aim to promote self-esteem and consider where you can learn skills – ie not just in a school setting. They have built shelters, learn how to make fire, compete team building tasks requiring them to work in groups – completing tasks of partnership with penfriends. They have developed their communication and interpersonal skills while experiencing a moment without their mobile phones, away from the stresses of everyday life and selfies.
Students complete a photo journal of their day, writing up accounts of different activities they experienced and also reflecting on how their environment made them feel. This is disseminated as a report on the blog.
